The days of covering wetlands with bitumen are gone. Building more roads only leads to more traffic, more pollution and more impacts on the health of our communities and environment.
Please send a message to the EPA and the State Government asking them to abandon their plans to destroy the beautiful Beeliar Wetlands  with an expensive and unsustainable road to nowhere.
The Save Beeliar Wetlands campaign aims to protect and promote the wetlands and bushland of the North Lake and Bibra Lake Reserves in the Beeliar Regional Park.
The area is currently under threat from plans for the construction of Roe Highway Stage 8. Now is the time for us to have our say to the state Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), the Premier and Environment Minister.
The Beeliar wetlands are one of the most significant cultural sites for Aboriginal people in the Southern Metropolitan region, they are home to endangered species such as the Carnabys Cockatoo, and the beautiful parklands are used by thousands of local people and visitors per year.
building a highway through this Regional Park would destroy the aesthetic, recreational, cultural and environmental values of the area forever, and simply move a traffic congestion problem from one place to another.

ROE 8 is not a foregone conclusion. It does not have state or federal environmental approval.

The Public Environmental Review (PER) is the documentation produced by South Metro Connect for the state government to allow the EPA to assess the proposal. In this case the public has from June 20th to September 12th to make their own submissions.

The PER is available online or get a hard copy or CD by calling 1800 132 572. Submissions can be emailed to submissions@epa.wa.gov.au. Or posted: The Environmental Protection Authority,

I have lived in the area for 30 years and it is time we all acted to save something of the beautiful bushland and recreation areas which are systematically being lost.
Let them put a road through Lake Monger and see the difference in attitudes from the State Government.
The historical significance of this lovely area is valuable to us all. We couldn’t stop the Coogee development but perhaps we can stop this.

These are some of the last remaining wetlands in Perth.
They should be left alone as the great park it is.
Plan a better use of rail not building roads for trucks that will only destroy this great area.

Between 1950 and 1960 (more spcifically 1957-60)I do know that myself with my parents, sisters and brother lived within meters of Bibra Lake and North Lake, located on the governmeent laundry side, on farm property. My father build from local bush land material and imported landfill material a family home. We lived off the wild animals that shared the wetlands, all types of water birds, kangaroos, possums, turtles and other reptiles. My father worked locally. Many of our family relatives lived on the other side of the Lakes. Back in late 1990’s I re-visted the area with MRWA and other government road construction interests and pointed out to them where we lived and also viewed remnants of a old spoke wheel vehicle that was owned by my father (It might still be there). I have a number of sisters living around perth they are very familiar with this location. My older sister and brother went to school at the Bibra Lake Primary School (I think that was it’s name then) I certianly demand for the area to remain as undisturbed wetland area and that my family has some recognition for our historical connections to the local area. I’m very supportive of the Save the Beelair Wetlands campaign. Please register my support. I’m currently living Kununurra and are planning to return to the Bibra Llake area and retire there. I want to be able to share the history of the location with my gandchildren, generations of other Noongar families along with our non-Aboriginal friends who have interest with the Beelair Wetlands area
